Thanks Doug. In order to create a new post you need to set up a wordpress.com account, which is free and easy. Once you do that, let me know the email address you used and I can add you to the list of contributors to the site.

I'm trying to reach the organizers of the North Stonington Sustainability Fair that was held at the elementary school. There is a Energy Conservation & Economic Fair being held on Sat. Oct. 4th from 10-5 at the Plainfield Town Hall. I'm looking for businesses or agencies that would like a FREE booth space. Exhibitors can also have a 15-30 minute presentation. If anyone wants to join us please contact me at positivelyplainfield@yahoo.com or call 860-450-9381. Or forward to those who may like to join us.

Thank You
Donna Bourque

Well, this is only tangentially related to the topic, but here are a few links that I consider very useful for folks trying to steer a city toward more sustainability.

The latest edition of the ICLEI Mayors' Climate Action Handbook(38 pages):

http://cityofseattle.net/climate/docs/ClimateActionHandbook.pdf

Two other excellent resources (both in the 75 - 85 page range) on recent best practices (successful examples of projects in cities across the US)from the very new Mayors' Climate Protection Center website:

http://usmayors.org/climateprotection/bestpractices.htm

Olympia, WA - Sustainable Action Map (SAM) which is used by all levels of city personnel to include sustainability in all decision-making:

http://www.ci.olympia.wa.us/NR/rdonlyres/51A7AEDE-7488-4ECF-A0BD-120A3AF4CAFC/0/SAM.doc

Background material for the SAM:

http://www.ci.olympia.wa.us/community/sustainability/SAM

(Ian: feel free to delete, move, modify if this really isn't the right stuff for this place)

Ian -

This looks great. Now I just have to find out if I can enter a new topic on the main page.

Thanks for doing this.
